Haik-who??

Hi everyone–

I can't wait to tell you about this manga I’ve been reading lately from the library called Haikyu!!

You might be wondering what this manga is all about and I’d be glad to tell you (from what I’ve read so far 🙂) !

Haikyu!! is about a first-year Japanese high schooler named Shoyo Hinata, who, inspired by a mysterious volleyball player on television dubbed “The Little Giant,” dreams of becoming a famous volleyball player. He tried to start a volleyball team/club in middle school, but, unfortunately, he never had enough players and didn't even get a game until his third year (third year is the last year of what we call middle school) which he lost 🙁.

He would then get into the high school he always wanted to go to which was the same school that “The Little Giant” went to, so that he could have the same legacy.

He became surprised to see one of the players from the game he played against the previous year which both were unhappy about. Now I don’t wanna spoil too much because this manga is really worth a read!

Shoyo (#10) and his high school volleyball squad.

If I were to explain the main character with one word, it would be “persistent.” I can relate to the main character because he never gives up and he is always being kind to others. Some of the other characters are really cool and funny too!

This manga has always made me laugh with its comedy. I highly recommend this to anyone who is reading this, but especially if you’re into volleyball or just like manga!

I was never that into volleyball but when I started to read this manga I got soooo invested and I started to even enjoy volleyball a lot more than I thought I ever would !

We currently have only 5/45 volumes right now in the library, but hopefully, if you give this manga a try, the school will purchase more in the series for us to read.

I promise you that it’s really worth it!

PS: There’s also a Haikyu!! anime in addition to the book as well as a few movies. You can find them on Crunchyroll!

Vols. 1-5 are available for checkout in the library.
